Tiger Woods made the cut at Augusta but struggled on the final weekend of the Masters tournament.

After four days of solid grind at Augusta National, golf icon Tiger Woods now has the rather luxurious option of retreating to his £15m super yacht for some rest and recovery.
The 48-year-old put in an admirable diplay at the Masters, keeping up his streak of making the cut at Augusta and setting a new record, with 24 consecutive cuts to the weekend’s play made.
But the course conditions and his bodily aches and strains would soon catch up with him, with Woods falling away over Saturday and Sunday and leaking shots across the course.
The iconic star, sporting his trademark Sunday red and black colours, returned to the clubhouse with a final scorecard of 16-over-par.
Woods has pledged to turn out for each of the majors in 2024, with the PGA Championship, the US Open and the Open Championship to follow.
And it happens to come in very handy that the sporting legend is in ownership of a luxury £15m super yacht, with which he can conduct his downtime while also working on his sporting fitness and rehabilitation.
While amassing a huge fortune during his wildly successful sporting career, Woods made the investment in adding the impressive liner to his property portfolio.
The American ace even jokingly referred to his amazing 155ft vessel as his “dinghy” in the past, though this is far from the case.

Woods’ yacht measures 6,500 sq ft and can sleep a total of ten guests in five state rooms throughout its complex.
There are also four cabins that house the ship’s nine crew members, along with additional spaces for general storage and maintenance items.
Additionally and perhaps most importantly, the yacht also comes with a fully-equipped gym on board boasting some of the most pioneering gadgets in the fitness industry.
It also has a three-person elevator to get between floors on the vessel, while the top deck provides a sizeable eight-person Jacuzzi and a bar for hosting guests.
Keeping up the costs on such an impressive and sizeable vessel is no mean feat, and it is estimated that around £1.5m per year is required to keep the super yacht running and fully operational.
The yacht also has a scuba station and external storage to carry three jet skis, two ocean kayaks and two Vespa scooters. The interior was initially decked out in cherry woodwork, though it is unknown whether the inside of the yacht has since been renovated or modified by the golf legend.
Yet while Woods is still chipping away in the world of professional golf, and maintaining he still believes he has one final major win in him, others are not so convinced.
Woods’ former rival Colin Montgomerie recently admitted his sadness that Woods did not bow out after the 2022 Open Championship on the hallowed turf of St Andrews Old Course
“I just wish Tiger had gone after he waved on that Swilken bridge at St Andrews a couple of years ago,” Montgomerie told talkSPORT.
“He’s kept going, he thinks he can do it but it’s quite obvious now physically and mentally, that he can’t.
“He’s competing once a month and it’s not enough. You can’t play once a month and hope to contend with these guys now. He finished the tournament 82-77. It’s not close, obviously and I wish he’d waved goodbye to the golfing word a couple of years ago.”

Woods made a comeback earlier this month, playing in the Seminole Pro-Member with his friend and business partner Rory McIlroy. Unlike McIlroy, Woods didn’t participate in the Arnold Palmer Invitational or The Players Championship in order to further his recovery.
Recently, he played a round with Yasir Al-Rummayan, the governor of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, in The Bahamas, ahead of discussions about a merger between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour.
Now, Woods has been seen on a scouting mission at Augusta. His Gulfstream G550 jet was tracked flying into Augusta.
Sports Illustrated reported that he played with club chairman Fred Ridley and fellow pro Justin Thomas. Woods is listed for his 26th appearance at the tournament, which would be his second event of the year.
If he makes the cut, the five-time Masters winner will break a record. He’s made the cut 24 times in a row, starting in 1997 when he first won the Green Jacket.
Woods has only missed the cut once, in 1996.
Nearly 30 years later, he’s set to return. After saying he planned to play an event every month this year, Woods appears keen to makeup for not meeting those plans in March, except in Seminole.

“Once a month seems reasonable,” Woods said of his playing schedule last year. “It gives me a couple of weeks to recover and a week to tune up. Maybe I can get into the rhythm.”
It’s now almost a year since Woods admitted before the last Masters that he didn’t know how many more he could play. Days later, Woods pulled out halfway through the tournament because of an injury, after playing through torrential weather conditions.
He then had fusion surgery on his arthritic right ankle the following month.
Earlier this year, he said he was feeling good and offered a positive outlook on his health status. Woods shared: “My ankle doesn’t hurt any more – the bones aren’t rubbing any more.
“But then again it’s different – other parts of my body have to take the brunt of it, just like my back is fused, and so other parts of my body have taken the brunt of that.”
He had some trouble with back spasms at Riviera when he came back to the Tour, before later being taken sick with a bout of flu.

That means it hasn’t been a good week for the Woods’ as his father pulled out of the Genesis Invitational recently due to suffering from flu-like symptoms and an undisclosed illness as he attempts to return to the big time.

Tiger Woods is “doing much better” after he had to withdraw from the Genesis Invitational with flu-like symptoms, his business partner says.
Woods, who was playing in his first official PGA Tour event since last April’s Masters, was only able to complete six holes in his second round.
The 48-year-old was driven off the course on a cart shortly after teeing off on the seventh hole in California.
He went to the clubhouse for two hours and was given intravenous fluids.
The 15-time major champion, who hosts the tournament at the Riviera Country Club, walked to his car before leaving the event.
His business partner Rob McNamara said Woods’ exit was unrelated to his long-standing injury problems and was “not physical at all”.
The American’s schedule has been limited since injuring his leg in a car crash in 2021 and he last played in December. He is still adapting after having ankle fusion surgery in April 2023.
The former world number one had back spasms towards the end of his first round on Thursday when he uncharacteristically shanked an approach shot on the 18th hole.
“His back is fine. It was all medical illness, dehydration… the symptoms are reversing themselves now that he’s had an IV [drip],” said McNamara.
“He had a little bit of a fever and was better during the warm-up, but then when he got out there and was walking and playing, he started feeling dizzy.
“Ultimately the doctors are saying he’s potentially got some type of flu and that he was dehydrated. He’s been treated with an IV bag and he’s doing much, much better and he’ll be released on his own here soon.”
Woods started his second round with a birdie at the par-five first hole, but dropped shots at the fourth and fifth and was two over par before he withdrew.
Spieth disqualified as Cantlay leads
Overnight leader Patrick Cantlay extended his advantage with a six-under-par 65 to reach 13 under, five shots clear of fellow American Luke List, Australian Jason Day and Canada’s Mackenzie Hughes who share second.
England’s Tommy Fleetwood is on four under alongside world number one Scottie Scheffler, while world number two Rory McIlroy has made the cut.
The four-time major champion struggled to a 74 in the first round, but recovered with a five-under-par 66 to put him at two under.
Meanwhile, former world number one Jordan Spieth was disqualified for the first time in his career after the 30-year-old American signed an incorrect scorecard.
The PGA Tour said Spieth signed for a three on the par-three fourth hole, when he had actually shot a four.
“Today, I signed for an incorrect scorecard and stepped out of the scoring area, after thinking I went through all procedures to make sure it was correct,” Spieth wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Rules are rules, and I take full responsibility. I love this tournament and golf course as much as any on the PGA Tour so it hurts to not have a run at the weekend.”
Among those to miss the cut of one over were American Justin Thomas and England’s Matthew Fitzpatrick.

Tiger Woods has seemingly confirmed the identity of his new sponsors after sharing a photo on social media that unintentionally shows their logo.
Woods, 48, and Nike ended their 27-year partnership earlier this year following the expiry of his final contract with the American apparel brand. More than a month later, the 15-time major champion has yet to announce a new endorsement deal.
That will have to change as Woods returns to competitive golf next week at the Genesis Invitational, which he is hosting at the Riviera Golf Course in Los Angeles on behalf of the Tiger Woods Foundation. The long-time world No. 1 is also teasing February 12, a day before the tournament’s opening round, for an announcement.
“The vision remains the same,” he posted Tuesday on X, formerly known as Twitter, alongside that date. The attached photo showed a close-up of Woods’ left eye beneath the brow of a black cap as light shines onto his brown iris. Saturday has seen him share a similarly cryptic post.
“A new day rises,” is the caption as Woods looks down to the ground while wearing another black cap in the accompanying image. But this time, the photo is a three-quarter length headshot showing him in a red unbranded polo shirt and dark-coloured trousers.
Also visible is the top of a golf club held in his gloved right hand. A spotlight is shining on the white glove with black detailing.

Upon closer inspection, what appears to be a leaping tiger depicted in the ‘Sunday Red’ logos trademarked by TaylorMade last month. What looks very much like the tiger’s hind legs from the logo appears in black in the centre of a separate panel atop the glove
However, the position of his hand in the photo obscures the rest of the glove. Despite not being definite confirmation, it is the clearest sign that ‘Sunday Red’ will be Woods’ apparel line debuting at the Genesis next week.
The name comes from the red-coloured clothing Woods famously wears for final rounds of events on Sundays. He also already has a preexisting six-year association with TaylorMade after using the brand’s clubs for the last six years, ever since Nike stopped producing
The foremost of Woods’ teasers was the first time he had posted on X since announcing his departure from Nike. “Over 27 years ago, I was fortunate to start a partnership with one of the most iconic brands in the world,” he wrote.
“The days since have been filled with so many amazing. [Former Nike CEO] Phil Knight’s passion and vision brought this Nike and Nike Golf partnership together, and I want to personally thank him, along with the Nike employees and incredible athletes I have had the pleasure of working with along the way.
“People will ask if there is another chapter. Yes, there will certainly be another chapter.”

Tiger Woods’s Car Accidents

In a post shared by Boardroom, Jordan stood at the top of the stack of top-five athletes in terms of their career earnings.

This list is based on an article by Sportico which puts Jordan’s $3.3 billion earnings at the top, around $800 million ahead of Tiger Woods, when adjusted for inflation. This is an important distinction considering a decent sum of MJ’s earnings came from mid 1980s to mid 2000s. If we take into account his non-inflation earnings, even then Jordan clears Woods by a significant margin.
He has accumulated $2.37 billion if we exclude inflation which is still around $600 million over Woods. While much of Jordan’s wealth has come after retirement, Woods is still active and stands at the top of active athletes with the most earnings. If we go back to the inflation-adjusted numbers, the prolific golfer has more than a billion dollars in earnings compared to generational soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
At any rate, Jordan’s incredible increase in net worth is also a result of his NBA ownership bid which multiplied his wealth significantly post-retirement. The NBA legend continues to make extraordinary business decisions.

The end of a 27-year-long partnership! The golf world has been able to witness an iconic collaboration between the likes of Tiger Woods and Nike ever since they joined hands in 1996. But their split, a little while back, does throw a little bit of shade in what was otherwise a perfect alliance. Well, now it appears they have managed to suffer yet another insult to their legacy, courtesy of Nick Dunlap.

The golfer is currently setting himself up for a win at the 2024 American Express as an amateur. However, while doing so, reports have emerged about a deal that the athlete has with a certain brand, all the while speculating an even better relationship than the Woods-Swoosh tie-up!
A slap in the face for Tiger Woods and Nike?
A tweet was shared by Josh Carpenter on his X handle (formerly known as Twitter) mentioning how Dunlap had supposedly bagged “a NIL deal with Adidas.” The reported partnership is said to have started last year, before the athlete won his U.S. Amateur Championship title in August.
However, as per reports, following the victory at the Cherry Hills Country Club and Colorado Golf Club, the “brand restructured the deal to be head to toe” as opposed to using just his name, image, and likeness (NIL) through marketing. Well, these speculations come off as a subtle jab for the legend and his split partnership with the Swoosh since both of them entered into a deal during the 15-time major champ’s pro entry. Meanwhile, the deal Adidas is reported to have with the 20-year-old started when he was just an amateur (which he still is, by the way). Nothing shy of a poke at their legacy.
Nevertheless, if the golfer does emerge victorious at the 2024 American Express, it would prove to be history in the making. Moreover, he would become the first athlete after Phil Mickelson in 1991 to win an event on the PGA Tour as an amateur, a feat nobody has achieved in over 30 years. There seems to be more good news on the way for the Adidas-Dunlap alliance.

Well, it’s not the first time that the news of the exit was met with a snub of sorts. However, this one came from none other than the Swoosh themselves, as they went ahead to delete the 82-time PGA Tour champ from its Nike Tiger Woods page. A journalist, Robert Lusetich, revealed the same while hinting at the success of the longstanding partnership.
The headlines of the golf world sure were abuzz with the news of their exit, following the legend’s choice of using FootJoy at the greens last year and his post on social media indicating the split. Nevertheless, it truly was one of the most successful partnerships that the golf world, or even the sports realm, has ever seen. Although the amateur was reportedly able to one-up Mr.T, one can only wait and see whether the duo will be able to pull off a successful partnership like the pro had with Nike!
